Kathy Najimy was born on 6 February in San Diego, California. She is the daughter of Samia and Fred Najimy, a postal worker. Her parents were Lebanese immigrants and hence she is a Lebanese descendant. She studied in the Crawford High School. She is married to comedian/singer Dan Finnerty and has one daughter.
She has spoken on the issues of Gay Rights and feminism and is also a human rights activist. She has also donated the amount she won in the game shows ‘The Weakest Link’, ‘Celebrity Poker Showdown’ and in the ‘CBS Gameshow Marathon’, to various charity organizations working for the uplifting of women. She is also very vocal about weight, body imaging and other issues related to females.
She is indulged in acting since 1992 when she got ‘Sister Act’ in which she played “Sister Mary Patrick“. Although, she had done many minor roles before this, it was her first major role. She again appeared in ‘Sister Act 2′ in 1993. Then she starred in ‘Hocus Pocus’ and lend her voice in ‘Cats Don’t Dance’ (1997). She did a cameo appearance in ‘Bride of Chucky’ in which she played a maid. She co-starred with John Cleese, Rowan Atkinson, Cuba Goodling and others in a hit comedy film ‘Rat Race’. She has appeared in TV show ‘Chicago Hope’ and ‘Veronica’s Closet‘. She was much praised fore her role of “Mae West” in ‘Dirty Blonde’. She worked as a voiceover artist in ‘The King Of The Hill’ and is also working in ‘NUMB3RS‘.
